Melissa Maichle

Partner

Melissa is a seasoned marketing, public relations and business development professional with deep roots in the Boston business community.  She has eight years experience working with leading area law firms in the financial, health care, life sciences, high tech, real estate, hospitality and retail industries.  Her roles with law firms include strategic marketing, public relations, business development, cross-selling and event planning.

Melissa has extensive experience responding to requests for proposals, preparing statements of qualifications and developing pitches for new business.  She coaches attorneys on best practices in business development, marketing, public relations and profile raising.  Melissa handles the full spectrum of traditional marketing activities and has played key roles in developing strategic business plans; creating media plans; launching web sites; writing brochures, newsletters and other marketing collateral; conducting market research; and identifying and securing speaking opportunities.  She has also rolled out customer relationship management systems and managed the overall integrity of law firm databases.

Prior to working with law firms, Melissa handled the marketing needs for high tech companies, driving the overall brand strategy including competitive positioning, customer value propositions, and defining and maintaining brand standards.  She has planned and implemented creative, effective marketing programs and has worked closely with sales teams to roll out new products and services, execute strategic marketing plans, overhaul marketing material, write case studies and manage databases.

While working as a regional marketing manager for Loislaw (a provider of legal research product and services), Melissa launched an aggressive marketing campaign to introduce a new product to law schools, a previously undeveloped target market. She developed successful visibility programs that drove law school participation from 0 to 85% within nine months of program launch.  Melissa was also responsible for driving product usage and sales by lawyers and judges.  She cultivated a partnership with the Maine State Bar Association, negotiating a three-year Loislaw membership benefit contract that increased revenues by 34%.  She also negotiated and managed a multi-year, multi-state government contract worth $1.2 million.

Melissa earned a B.S. degree from Ithaca College with a major in Communications a minor in Politics.  She earned a J.D. degree from Western New England College School of Law and practiced law in greater Boston for seven years before transitioning to a career in marketing.  She is a member of the Legal Marketing Association of New England and a former co-chair of the organization’s program committee.

Melissa enjoys sailing, hiking, skiing, rock climbing, biking, reading and playing on the beach with her kids. She lives in Duxbury, Massachusetts with her husband and two children.

Kimberly Sousa Panton

Partner

Kimberly has a deep-rooted past and experience in

working with both the non-profit and for-profit sectors. Prior

to her position as partner at essentia Marketing and PR, Kim worked at Triple Dot Communications as the assigned Account Executive on the Eastpak Backpack and the Timberland Packs and Travel Gear accounts.  In addition to these accounts, Kim was also brought in as a team member on the Ben & Jerry's, Converse, International Paper, and Coors accounts; and as part of the team that launched Paul Newman's Ice Cream.  While at Triple Dot, Kim managed new product launches, provided trade show support, implemented grass roots marketing initiatives, managed events, coordinated media relations, and managed product placement for her clients on national TV shows and in appropriate movies.

Kim also spent over 6 years working in the non-profit sector before joining Triple Dot. Her non-profit work began at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, Illinois as the campaign coordinator for their $57.5 million dollar capital campaign. Her highlight while at the Museum was managing the Museum's historic Apollo 8 twenty-fifth anniversary event where she was able to work with astronauts Jim Lovell, Frank Borman and Bill Anders.

After her time with the Museum of Science and Industry, Kim returned to her Boston roots and worked as the Corporate Fundraising Coordinator for City Year's Serve-a-thon. Kim successfully developed City Year's first Law Firm Serve-a-thon Challenge and the Top 5 Accounting Firm Serve-a-thon Challenge.  In addition, due to Kim's efforts, the corporate sector brought in over 60% of all monies for the Serve-a-thon, doubling the funds raised from the previous year.  Following her role as Corporate Coordinator on the Serve-a-thon, Kim was later promoted to the role of National Director of Corporate Giving, when City Year stretched beyond New England.

Her final career move in the non-profit sector was with the AIDS Action Committee of Boston.  While at AIDS Action, Kim solicited donations for their Annual Holiday Auction; assisted in coordinating their noted ArtCetera Event; and founded their first Junior Council, The Realists, which allowed the organization to reach out to a younger, untapped community.

Kim has always been passionate about working and volunteering in the non-profit community.  Throughout her life Kim has volunteered for various adult literacy programs and children's causes, including the Adult Literacy Program, Read Boston, Children's Hospital, One-on-One and First Night.

She earned her B.A. from Wheaton College with a major in Political Science and a Minor in American History, and attended Moses Brown preparatory school in Providence, Rhode Island.

Kim enjoys road and mountain biking, rock climbing, downhill skiing, running, knitting and reading. She, her husband and two young boys live and play in Duxbury, Massachusetts.
